The meeting place for machining specialists

In January 2024, the 15th machining seminar is set to take place on four different dates throughout Switzerland. The seminar series aims at decision-makers and specialists in the metalworking industry.

Aluminum milling – Reduce machining time by 96%

A Swiss manufacturer produces carrier plates made from a wrought aluminum alloy. This material tends to stick to the cutting edge of conventional tools, resulting in inferior surface finishes and premature tool wear. Due to the thin-walled nature of the workpiece, clamping it is also particularly challenging.

By using the PCD-tipped "MX diamond" shoulder and face shell mill, the machining time was reduced by 96 % – from 26 minutes to 1 minute!

URMA also relies on an interchangeable head system for the "MX diamond", thereby offering a modular milling tool. The PCD shoulder and face shell mill, which is fitted with polycrystalline diamonds, is suitable for aluminum machining, bronze, copper, brass and alloys made of zinc, tin and other non-ferrous metals or polymers.
