In contrast to previous solutions, VAS is completely modular. The URMA beta module is used as the interface. The advantages are among others:
- Use of standard double cutters and fine boring heads
- Use of milling tools via plug-on milling adapters
- Great flexibility for any kind of spindle adapters
- Can be combined with other standard components such as extensions or reductions
- Lower investment volume
Until now, it was assumed that only monoblock versions (e.g. a single-piece anti-vibration rod and fine boring head) could deliver useful results. URMA VAS turns these statements upside down. With projection lengths of up to 10xD, standard double cutters, fine-boring heads, shell-mill and end-mill cutters can be used to achieve very economical machining values. This is possible because VAS consists of an innovative damping system which can be additionally "tuned". The damping elements are influenced by adjusting screws according to the machining task. URMA provides the user with empirical values for the adjustment in order to achieve good results already from the first use.
Here are two practical examples with the new URMA VAS:
Projection length 10xD modular, spindle holder SK50 DIN 69871
Fine machining in C45, bore diameter 67.3 H7, cutting depth ap 0.1mm
Cutting speed vc 250 m/min at a feed fz 0.05 mm/rev
Result: perfect surfaces achieved even at 10xD and high cutting speed
Projection length 9.5xD modular, spindle adapter HSK 100
Milling in C45 with a Shell-Mill cutter diameter 63mm, cutting depth ap 1.0mm, ae 20mm
cutting speed vc 200 m/min, feed fz 0.20 mm, z 6, f 1.2mm/rev
Result: fast milling operation without any vibrations and a very good surface
The VAS range is available with the Beta-module interfaces 40, 63, and 80. With this, a diameter range of 49-297mm can be covered. Due to the modularity, other tool combinations are of course also possible. Depending on the diameter, processing lengths of 4xD, 6xD, 8xD and 10xD are available.
